Fire Torches 100 Acres In New Jersey Pine Barrens

WOODLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A fire was raging in the New Jersey Pine Barrens on Monday evening.

The blaze had spread more than 100 acres in Woodland Township, near the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in Burlington County, CBS2 reported.

Firefighters have requested an air tanker and an observation helicopter.

The fire is not threatening any homes or structures in southern New Jersey.

There was no word Monday evening about how it started.

Campgrounds in the area are under a fire ban because of the extremely dry conditions.
