New Jersey Couple With 2 Daughters Accused Of Running Prostitution Operation Out Of Home

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey mother is accused of running a prostitution operation in her home with help from her husband.

CBS2's Hazel Sanchez reports police said this was happening in the quiet suburb of Mount Olive in Warren County and that it's not the first time Michelle and Matthew Bishop have been in trouble with the law.

Mount Olive police said they had been investigating Michelle Bishop for several months before arresting her on Sept. 9 for selling sex services out of her family's apartment on Brock Lane.

She was charged with prostitution and released, but police said last week she was back to her old tricks.

On Friday, police got a call about a suspicious man in the Hackettstown neighborhood. Police said when an officer arrived, he saw Matthew Bishop walking around this parking lot, then trying to avoid the officer by walking into the couple's apartment.

The officer knocked on the door and found Michelle Bishop and evidence she was engaging in prostitution.

Parents in the neighborhood said they sympathize with the Bishop's two daughters who live with their parents.

"It's kind of sickening," Sergio Estrada said.

Police said the couple faces prostitution and drug possession charges. Matthew Bishop is also charged with selling drugs.
