The suspect fell six stories onto a third-floor terrace, officials said. He has been identified as Tyler Carlisle, 22, originally from Manchester, New Hampshire, WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported.

The stabbing victim, Alexander Michaud, 21, is in stable condition after undergoing surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said. Officials say the men were acquaintances at Yale.

"I don't believe the victim was a roommate," police Officer David Hartman told Schneidau. "We're not certain about the relationship. We know that they knew one another."

According to Facebook, Michaud is also from Manchester.

A Yale spokesman had no immediate comment.

Authorities haven't released details of what happened before the stabbing and jump.
