Now, a new program seeks to keep pets warm with free dog houses, WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported.

It's called "Operation Give Me Shelter", the ASPCA's Colleen Dougherty explained.

"It's been a brutal winter and we want to make sure that dogs that spend a lot of time outside have proper shelter from the elements," Dougherty said.

The igloo type insulated dog houses are available free of charge in the city through the ASPCA.
