Nets Fans Upset With Official Twitter Account After Team Reporter Calls Them Out

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- On Wednesday night, the Nets announced on Twitter that team beat reporter Lenn Robbins would take over Brooklyn's account during the pivotal Game 5 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Raptors in Toronto.

One of the tweets from the reporter caused a bit of a firestorm among fans.

First, there was a tweet from Robbins' personal account, which didn't cause a stir. It did, however, foreshadow what was to come.

Later on, he called out Nets fans for not being loud enough at Barclays Center from the team's official Twitter account.

That didn't exactly sit well with the Nets' faithful. The tweet generated plenty of responses, the majority of which were highly critical.

Not only were fans upset and defensive. Nets assistant general manager Bobby Marks chimed in to support his organization's fan base.

The Nets erased a 26-point Raptors lead in the game, but ultimately fell short to fall behind 3-2 in the series.

On Thursday afternoon, the Nets went into damage-control mode.

And maybe now they're trying to make it up to the fan base.

Game 6 will be played at Barclays Center on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
