Nassau Police Search For Suspect In Westbury Burglary, Attack

WESTBURY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released surveillance video of a man they said burglarized a Long Island apartment and attacked the woman who lives there.

According to Nassau County police, the 21-year-old woman arrived at her basement apartment on Oliver Avenue in Westbury to find the door open.

When the victim turned to leave, the suspect grabbed her and demanded money, authorities said. The suspect attempted to force the woman back into the apartment, but she refused and dropped to the ground, they said.

"I am glad the owner of the house has cameras, and it is scary to know it happened right next door to where I'm living at," neighbor Kevin Nunez told CBS2.

Police described the suspect as a black male between 20 and 25 years old, 5'9" with a mustache. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Police said two women's watches were taken from the home. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
