Nassau County Police On Alert Following 'Worrisome' Robbery, Slashing

OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Convenience store employees in Long Island are on edge after what authorities call a "worrisome attack" following a robbery Sunday night.

According to police, the suspect slashed the employee even after he was given the money he demanded.

As WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs reports, Nassau police are beefing up patrols around convenience stores after the robbery at a 7-11 in Old Bethpage.

The masked robber carried a hunting knife, and authorities are worried he could strike again.

"We do view this person as more dangerous," Nassau County Chief of Department Steve Skrynecki said.

As a precaution, Skrynecki recommended it's best to keep the lights on and have more than one person working in the store when possible.
