Long Island Court Officer Dead In Attempted Murder-Suicide

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island court officer is dead in an apparent attempted murder-suicide.

Newsday reported Nassau County Family Court Officer Keith Allen, 49, shot his 35-year-old girlfriend in the head inside their Brooklyn apartment on Forrest Street and then killed himself.

The girlfriend, who is a Kings County court clerk, survived and is in stable condition, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

The couple had been together for six years and moved to Brooklyn, from Merrick, about four months ago.

Officers found the couple while responding to a 911 call reporting an assault at the apartment.
