Man Steals More Than $3K Of Merchandise From LI Bath And Body Works Stores, Police Say

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man is due in court Thursday in connection with several thefts from Bath and Body Works stores on Long Island.

Rohan Esberry, 39, is charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and three counts of petit larceny, Nassau County police said.

Esberry was arrested Wednesday after being stopped by security guards outside a Bath and Body Works on Long Beach Road in Oceanside.

Police said around 10:45 a.m., he removed $126 worth of items from the shelves, hid them in a bag and then left the store without paying. The security guards stopped him and called police.

Investigators later determined that Esberry had stolen from that same store at least three other times -- on Sept. 26, last Friday and again on Tuesday, police said.

He also allegedly targeted another Bath and Body Works on Sept. 26 in East Garden City. Police said Esberry caused the stores a total loss of $3,175.

Police said a female accomplice who helped Esberry in at least one of the thefts has yet to be arrested.
