Track Fire Snarls N, Q Subway Service Between Queens And Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A track fire snarled subway service along the N and Q lines between Queens and Manhattan during the busy Tuesday morning rush hour.
Service was disrupted at around 8:30 a.m. due to a track fire at Lexington Avenue and 59th Street in Manhattan, CBS2 reported.
There was no N and Q service between 57th Street/Seventh Avenue and Astoria/Ditmars Boulevard in both directions.
Southbound R trains were running on the F line from Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Avenue and 57th Street.
The disruptions left many commuters scrambling to get to work.
"It stopped at Lexington and 59th, then they told us to get off and go back to 7, go to Times Square, then take the 7 to come back. It took me about 2 hours," Brooklyn resident Jethro Benoit told CBS2.
Service was restored with residual delays just before 9:30 a.m.
