N.J. Boys -- Ages 6, 10 And 12 -- Accused Of Attacking Cat That Later Died

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Three young boys in Paterson, New Jersey have been charged with attacking and severely injuring a cat that later died.

Passaic County prosecutors announced the animal cruelty charges on Wednesday. The names of the boys -- ages 6, 10 and 12 -- were not disclosed.

Authorities said the boys pelted the cat, a gray and white male named Quattro, with rocks and a brick on May 7. The cat suffered two broken legs, head trauma and an eye socket injury.

Two teenagers saw the attack and quickly stopped it. They brought the animal to their home and also sought medical care for the cat, but he ultimately was euthanized eight days later.
