Health Department Investigating Small Cluster Of Mumps Cases In Far Rockaway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Health Department said it is investigating a small cluster of mumps cases in Far Rockaway, Queens.

They are asking anyone who has been sick to stay home while still infectious, CBS2 reported.

The mumps is caused by a virus and is contagious.

Symptoms usually include fever, headache, muscle aches, loss of apetite and swollen glands.

It's unclear exactly how many cases have been confirmed.
