MTA Police Chief Owen Monaghan Announces Retirement

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The MTA's top cop is stepping down.

Chief Owen Monaghan says he will retire on January 5.

Monaghan has led the transit agency's police force since 2017.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman Patrick Foye says Monaghan's leadership and deep understanding of transportation security were critical in keeping New York commuters safe.
