MTA, Broadway Stars Unite To Welcome Back Theatergoers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The MTA and the stars of Broadway are teaming up to welcome theatergoers back.

Tuesday, they launched a new ad campaign featuring the stars of seven of Broadway's hottest shows riding the rails.

It's a throwback to a 1977 campaign titled, "The Only Sure Way to Make It to Broadway."

"Whether you're riding the subway, the bus, Long Island Rail Road or Metro-North, it's faster, safer, cheaper and greener than taking a car," MTA acting chair and CEO Janno Lieber said.

"When you do get on those subway cars, you know that you're surrounded by the people who make Broadway happen," said Rob McClure, star of the musical adaptation of "Mrs. Doubtfire."

"New York is not New York without Broadway any more than it is without the MTA," Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin said.

Speed and ease aren't the only benefits.

The MTA is also offering discounts to shows for riders who purchase tickets online. For more information, click here.
