Man Dies After Being Found With Burns In Bronx Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man died Thursday evening after being found at the scene of a fire in a Bronx apartment building.

Just after 8 p.m., police were called to the scene of a fire at 1758 Weeks Avenue in the Mount Hope section, police said. Once the fire was out, FDNY personnel found a man unconscious and responsive with burns to his body, police said.

"The fire department brought him out, laid him on the floor and they tried to revive him," neighbor Angel Carrion said.

He was rushed to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The cause of the man's death will be determined by the New York City Medical Examiner's office.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
