Motorcyclist Killed, Good Samaritan Hurt In Freeport

FREEPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A motorcyclist died after she collided with a center divider and then was struck by a motorist in Freeport on Sunday night, police said.

The motorist also hit a driver who rushed to the woman's aid, Nassau County police said.

The accident happened just after 11 p.m. on Mill Road near Merrick Road.

The 52-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a hospital nearly three hours later, police said. The Good Samaritan suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his neck and head.

No charges have been filed, Newsday reported. Police are still investigating.
