Man Confesses To Killing Woman, Son Found Dead In Hamilton Heights Apartment
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have charged a man with murder after a 36-year-old mother and her 4-year-old son were found dead in an apartment in Hamilton Heights earlier this week.
As CBS2's Jessica Layton reported, police were still guarding the apartment where the bodies of Felicia and Miguel Barahona were discovered the day after Christmas.
Authorities say Isaac Duran Infante, 23, confessed to strangling Felicia, who was found dead with an electrical cord around her neck on Monday.
He also confessed to killing her son, Miguel before placing him face down in the bathtub. Duran Infante is the father of the four-year-old.
Duran Infante was expected to face a judge on Wednesday morning, and remained silent while being walked out of the 30th precinct in handcuffs on his way to a jail cell after being questioned by the NYPD for hours.
He told police he "didn't like the way she was raising the child" -- which included dressing him in feminine looking clothing -- and that Barahona was "interfering" in his relationship with his new girlfriend, CBS2 reported.
Additionally, he confessed that he was "tired of paying child support for the kid."
Barahona was fired in 2013 by the Department of Education for having a sexual relationship with Duran Infante while she was a teacher at Dewitt High School in the Bronx.
Authorities say Duran Infante has no history of psychological issues.
Duran Infante has been charged with murder.
Police said the woman and the boy were probably killed either Thursday or Friday of last week.
