Mom: Man Verbally Assaulted Me For Breastfeeding 1-Month-Old At Connecticut Target

TORRINGTON, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A Connecticut woman said she was verbally assaulted for breastfeeding her 1-month-old at Target.

Jessie Maher said she was breastfeeding her child at the store in Torrington when she claims another customer started berating her for nursing.

Maher pulled out her cellphone, recorded him and posted the video to Facebook.

While his verbal tirade continued, several other shoppers came up and defended her.

"He can go the other way. This is a beautiful moment. If he doesn't like it he can go," one shopper said in the video.

"The amount of people coming at me to defend me was amazing," Maher said.

Target employees stepped in to ask the man to leave the area.

Maher said she plans to file a police report.
