Florida Teen Who Disappeared With Soccer Coach Found Safe In New York

LAKE CITY, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Authorities say a Florida teen who prompted a nationwide search has been found safe in upstate New York.

It's believed Caitlyn Frisina, 17, ran off with 27-year-old soccer coach Rian Rodriguez last weekend.

They were spotted by a New York State trooper Friday afternoon in Syracuse.

Frisina's family members said they don't know why she left with Rodriguez, who they considered a friend.

"We have to love and cherish people, and you have to let people in your lives sometimes, even if that cost is getting hurt sometimes," her father, Ward, said. "But I'm glad my daughter's safe and I'm glad we're back."

Rodriguez has been fired and charged as a fugitive.
