Mishima Sukiyaki Beef, Gingered Pork Recalled Over Metal Fragments
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A California-based food company has recalled nearly 50,000 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat beef and pork products that may be contaminated with metal fragments.
Unibright Foods, based in the Los Angeles County city of Bell Gardens, recalled 48,139 pounds of Mishima Sukiyaki Beef and Mishima Gingered Pork, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Thursday.
The products were shipped to New York and New Jersey, as well as to Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, and Illinois, the USDA said.
The beef and pork both bear the establishment number "EST. 1163." The number is inside the USDA mark of inspection and package ID number 15069 for the beef and 15059 for the pork.
The beef comes in 2.2-pound packages, the pork in 1.7-pound packages.
The beef product was produced between Aug. 12 and Dec. 16 of last year, the pork product between Aug. 5 and Aug. 6.
The problem was reported to Unibright by a distributor, which learned from an Illinois restaurant that a stainless steel wire was found in the sukiyaki beef product. No one has been injured or fallen ill from eating the products, the USDA said.
