NJ Teacher Indicted After Allegedly Smoking Marijuana With Student

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A former New Jersey High School teacher has been indicted after allegedly smoking marijuana with one of his students.

Michael Fleming, 30, of Hackensack, is also accused of having what officials describe as 'inappropriate conversations' with a second student from Nov. 1, 2014 through April 1, 2015. Officials did not specify the nature of those conversations.

Fleming was working as as teacher at West Milford High School at the time.

Fleming was arrested on April 20, 2015 on two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 3rd degree. The arrest came after an investigation by the Special Victims Unit of the Passaic County Prosecutor's office.

If convicted, Fleming could face up to five years in prison.
