Mike Francesa, Caller Argue Over Future Of UConn Basketball

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mike Francesa and a caller got into a heated exchange Wednesday over the WFAN host's feelings about UConn men's basketball team.

Ed from Guilford, Connecticut, said Francesa harbored disdain for the Connecticut Huskies. Francesa insisted that wasn't the case, that he was only calling UConn fans who want to see coach Kevin Ollie fired "spoiled."

Francesa, however, did say he doesn't believe UConn will ever experience another run like it did under former coach Jim Calhoun again.

"Georgetown hasn't been Georgetown since John Thompson left -- the original John Thompson. They haven't been the same," Francesa said. "St. John's hasn't been the same since (Lou) Carnesecca retired. Sometimes it's about the coach. And what UConn did with Calhoun was through the moon. It was outrageously good."
