Bicyclist Hurt In Midtown Hit-And-Run Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A hit-and-run crash in Midtown has left a bicyclist seriously hurt.

It happened near the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 40th Street around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

The biker has what's described as "severe trauma" to his leg and has been taken to Bellvue hospital, CBS2 reported.

Police said they don't yet have an exact description of the vehicle involved, which fled the scene. They were told a large truck was apparently involved.

Eighth Avenue is closed down between 39th and 41st streets as police investigate.
