Suspicious Package Shuts Down Roads In Midtown East

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were on the scene in Midtown East Thursday afternoon after a suspicious package was reported.

Police were called around 5:45 p.m. to 800 Second Ave., at 44th Street, for the suspicious package, the NYPD told CBS2.

Second Avenue was shut down between 43rd and 45th streets, and 43rd Street was also closed. Pedestrians were also evacuated from the area.

The NYPD Emergency Service Unit was dispatched, police said.

Police gave the all-clear around 6:45 p.m. Further details were not immediately available.
