NYPD: Video Captures 2 Men Wanted For Vandalizing Mexican Consulate

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released surveillance video of two men wanted for vandalizing the Mexican Consulate last month.

The men are suspected of splashing red paint on the building on 39th Street between Madison and Park avenues around 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 29, police said.

This was not the first time the consulate has been targeted.

In 2007, a man on a bicycle threw phony bombs at the building, and the FBI connected the person to other bombings, including one at the Times Square military recruiting station. The investigation into that case is ongoing, and the FBI is offering a reward for information.

In another incident, Ambassador Sandra Fuentes said someone threw paint at the building to protest the handling of the disappearance of 43 students killed in Mexico last year.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS, visit the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
