Mets World Series Ticket Prices Hit Record High

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Daniel Murphy's breaking records -- and now so are the Mets' World Series ticket prices.

According to TiqIQ.com, the average resale price for the three scheduled Fall Classic games at Citi Field is $1,668 -- making it the most expensive ticket since the website started tracking such data in 2010.

Game 3 on Oct. 30 has the least expensive average of the three home contests -- $1,572. The cheapest tickets are going for $666.

Game 4 on Oct. 31 has an average price of $1,609 with a "get-in" price of $661. Tickets to Game 5 on Nov. 1 are selling for $1,841 on average, with the most affordable ones at $711.

The Mets will open the Series on the road Tuesday against either the Kansas City Royals or Toronto Blue Jays.

The previous record price, according to TiqIQ.com, was held by the 2010 San Francisco Giants ($1,661).

In last season's World Series between the Royals and Giants, tickets in Kansas City cost $1,473 on average, while they sold for $1,140 in San Francisco.
