Mets Minor Leaguer Derrick Bernard Suspended 62 Games For Positive Drug Test
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — New York Mets minor league pitcher Derrick Bernard has been suspended 62 games without pay for a positive drug test.
Major League Baseball said Wednesday that the right-hander tested positive for a metabolite of Nandrolone in violation of the Minor League drug prevention and treatment program.
Bernard is on the Gulf Coast League Mets' roster.
In his first professional season, the 22-year-old allowed three earned runs in seven innings pitched. The Sul Ross State product walked nine and struck out eight, blowing both of his save opportunities.
