Mets' Duda And Syndergaard Named NL Co-Players Of The Week

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Mets are getting their just rewards.

On Monday, first baseman Lucas Duda and right-hander Noah Syndergaard were named NL Co-Players of the week for the week of July 27-Aug. 2.

Duda hit .474 (9-for-19) with seven home runs and 10 RBIs in six games, which included a two-homer, three-RBI effort in the Mets' 3-2 win over Washington on Saturday. Duda also homered Sunday in a 5-2 victory which completed New York's three-game sweep and gave it a share of first place in the NL East.

Duda has nine homers and 12 RBIs over his last eight games, and 21 homers and 50 RBIs overall.

Syndergaard won both of his starts last week, allowing a total of two earned runs and just 10 hits, while striking out 18 and walking none in 16 innings.

With a fastball reaching 99 mph, the 22-year-old right-hander tossed eight innings on Sunday, lowering his ERA to 2.66.

The Mets have won six of eight overall.
