Mayor De Blasio To Speak At Democratic Party Of Wisconsin Gala

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio is set to rally Wisconsin Democrats as they look ahead to the 2016 elections.

De Blasio is scheduled to be the Democratic Party of Wisconsin's keynote speaker at the party's Founders Day gala next month.

The mayor has been building a more nationally progressive profile since he took office last year. He has delivered a speech at the United Nations on climate change and spoke about progressive values at a conference of the United Kingdom's Labour Party.

In Wisconsin, de Blasio will get a Democratic spotlight in the home state of Gov. Scott Walker, who's viewed as a top potential Republican Party presidential contender in 2016.

The gala will be held on April 25 in Milwaukee.
