Mayor De Blasio Pitches Pre-K To Little League Parents In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio is on a mission to promote pre-kindergarten.
The mayor pitched the idea to a group of Little League baseball players and their parents in Brooklyn on Saturday.
The state budget allotted up to $300 million to the city for its pre-kindergarten program over the next five years.
Now, the mayor is urging parents to enroll their children for class next fall.
"Parents, if you have a child that's going to be pre-K age, application forms are available here. You can get them from the Department of Education, you can get them all over the city. You have until April 23 for the first wave of applications," de Blasio said.
The mayor said by fall there will be tens of thousands of pre-kindergarten seats available for city residents.
