Massachusetts Governor, Gov. Malloy To Laud $10.10 Minimum Wage

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is crossing the border into Connecticut to campaign with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

Malloy's campaign said the two Democrats will appear Friday at a Hartford bakery to celebrate the state's recent legislation increasing the minimum wage in Connecticut to $10.10 an hour by 2017. The campaign notes the event will take place on the 10th day of the 10th month.

Connecticut was the first state to pass legislation that set an eventual $10.10 an hour wage. It's the same wage President Barack Obama has called for on the national level.

Malloy's Republican rival, businessman Tom Foley, has said he supports increasing the national minimum wage, calling it "a fairness issue."

A new Quinnipiac University Poll shows Malloy and Foley in a dead heat.
