Thousands of Con Edison customers without power across New York City, Westchester County after rain, gusty winds

Nearly 6,000 power outages from weather in NYC, Westchester

NEW YORK -- Thousands of people across New York City and Westchester County were without power Wednesday after rain and gusty winds moved through the area.

Con Edison says Queens was hit hardest, with nearly 7,300 people losing service.

Video taken in Maspeth shows entire blocks in the dark.

The utility says they have restored service to 9,200 customers, but nearly 6,000 people in the city and Westchester County were still without power around 10:15 p.m.

Con Edison says the storms did bring down some power lines and urges everyone to stay away from downed wires.
