Police say no attempted kidnapping took place in Queens

NEW YORK -- Police now say no attempted kidnapping took place in MaspethQueens.

On Friday, there were reports that two women walked up to a mother and her child at 60th Road and Fresh Pond Road and tried to grab the 5-year-old before taking off in a minivan.

Police now say no such incident took place.

According to police sources, witnesses reported the women tried to abduct the child, but video footage showed that was not true.  

Police sources tell CBS New York the mother did exchange words with the women inside the van and the women then got out of the van, but they never attempted to take the child.
