Man Struck, Killed In Hit-And-Run In Marine Park, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run Friday evening in Marine Park, Brooklyn, police said.

Police were called at 8:06 p.m. to 3444 Avenue V in Brooklyn for a report of a pedestrian struck, the NYPD said.

Officers found Francis Perez, 28, of Brooklyn unconscious and unresponsive at the scene with severe head trauma, police said.

Police believe Perez was trying to cross Avenue V outside the crosswalk when he was struck by a blue Toyota sport-utility vehicle or minivan headed west on Avenue V.

Perez was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital, police said.

The driver fled the scene, police said.

There had been no arrests late Friday and the crash was under investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad.
