Many Left Waiting For Hours To Get Home After Belmont Stakes

ELMONT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Hours after the Triple Crown upset at Belmont Park, thousands of horse racing fans were still trying to get home.

Heavy train delays proved to be as much of a disappointment as the race was to many California Chrome fans Saturday.

The Long Island Rail Road said it experienced 60 to 70 percent more riders this year due to the Triple Crown excitement.

Officials were trying to direct riders to shuttle buses, but some people gave up and waited for the lines to die down.

At its peak, wait times reached at least two hours.
