Manhattanhenge 2016: Where To See It This Memorial Day Weekend

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- If you're planning to stay in New York City this Memorial Day weekend, get ready to catch a glimpse of one of the city's unique phenomenons.

"Manhattanhenge" — also known as the Manhattan Solstice — occurs when the setting sun aligns precisely with the Manhattan street grid, creating a radiant glow of light.

New Yorkers can catch a glimpse of Manhattanhenge on May 29th and 30th at around 8:12 p.m., the New York Times reported. The next sighting of the spectacular sunset won't come around again until July 11th and 12th.

The best view is on the wider crosstown streets, such as 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd and 57th streets.
