Manhattan Street Corner Renamed 'Stan Brooks Way' In Honor Of Late 1010 WINS Reporter
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A Manhattan street corner has been renamed in honor of the late and legendary 1010 WINS reporter Stan Brooks.
Brooks and his wife, Lynn, lived at Manhattan Plaza at 10th Avenue and West 43rd Street for years. The northeast corner was renamed Stan Brooks Way during a ceremony Friday afternoon.
His three sons did the honor of unveiling the street sign.
"My dad was a humble person, very unassuming," Rick Brooks said.

A longtime City Hall reporter, Brooks worked for nearly five decades at 1010 WINS and covered major stories such as the Attica Prison riot, the civil rights movements and the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.
He died in December at age 86, just a couple of weeks after he stopped working.
In December, the radio room at City Hall was also renamed in honor of Brooks.
