Up To 14 Correction Officers Pepper Sprayed At Manhattan Detention Complex

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Up to 14 correction officers encountered pepper spray at the detention center in Lower Manhattan Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

Sources told CBS2 the officers were handling an uncooperative inmate Tuesday afternoon at the Manhattan Detention Complex, at 125 White St.

The officers used pepper spray to handle the inmate, and some of the pepper spray also affected the officers themselves, sources said.

Video from Chopper 2 showed ambulances at the scene outside the detention complex and officers being transported.
