Suffolk Police: Man In Wheelchair Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A driver on Long Island fatally struck a man in a wheelchair and then took off, Suffolk County police said.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. Friday in West Babylon.

Authorities said the victim, 40-year-old Michael Dora, was in the right lane heading southbound on Great East Neck Road when he was struck.

Dora, of West Babylon, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are looking for a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Nissan with front-end damage.
