New Jersey Man Wanted In Shooting Of Teen Girl: Police

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A northern New Jersey man is still at large after police say he shot a 17-year-old girl over the weekend.

Authorities are looking for 25-year-old Luis Polanco more than two days after the shooting. He is charged with attempted murder and weapons charges.

Paterson police say the shooting occurred around 2:10 a.m. Saturday. The teen was shot and seriously wounded while sitting in the passenger seat of a car.

It's not clear if the teen or someone else in the car was targeted or if the car was moving or parked when the shooting occurred.

The victim, a Clifton resident, was shot in the back.

It's unclear how police linked Polanco to the shooting.
