Man Takes MTA Bus For Friday Joy Ride

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Staten Island man is facing charges after taking an MTA bus on a joy ride early Friday morning.

According to police, Nickolas Ellias jumped into a parked MTA bus at the Saint George Ferry Terminal and took off.

He managed to make it four miles before he was arrested.

As 1010 WINS's Roger Stern reports, this isn't the man's first run in with the law. Ellias stole a bus from the same terminal two years ago.

New Yorkers like Eddie are left scratching their heads.

"I don't know," he said, "there should be more security with the buses."

Another woman thinks drivers should make sure to take the keys when they leave their buses.

Ellias is facing grand larceny and criminal mischief charges.
