Man Sought In Connection With Fatal Shooting Near Perth Amboy Bar

PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police in New Jersey are searching for a man they said fatally shot another man following a bar fight on Valentine's Day.

Jahmmel Chephas, 32, of Franklin Township, is facing murder and weapons charges in the death of 31-year-old Richard Pryce, of Perth Amboy, according to Middlesex County prosecutors.

Police said the men were involved in "an altercation'' early Saturday at a Perth Amboy bar, but didn't elaborate on what sparked the argument.

The shooting occurred a short time later on Amboy Avenue. Police said Chephas then fled the scene.

Pryce was shot multiple times but was able to return to the bar, where he was taken to a hospital by a friend. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy determined that Pryce died from the shooting. His death was ruled a homicide.
