Man Shot Near Otisville MNR Station Just After Being Released From Prison

OTISVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was shot and wounded Thursday near a Metro-North station in Orange County, just 15 minutes after being released from prison.

The shooting happened Thursday morning near the Otisville train station, police said.

The victim had just served 15 years for assault at the Otisville State Correctional Facility, police said.

Minutes after he was released, he was shot multiple times, police said. He staggered into the train station for help.

Police said the suspects unexpectedly picked up the victim from the prison.

"At some point when these gentlemen arrived, he ended up opting to take a ride with them as opposed to getting a ride from the prison officials to get on the train," said Mount Hope town police Chief Paul Rickard.

The victim was being treated at a local hospital Thursday night. Police believe the suspects left the area.
