Man Shot In Rockaways; Stray Bullet Hits MTA Bus

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was shot and wounded in the Rockaways Monday evening, and at least one stray bullet in the incident hit a city bus.

Around 8:30 p.m., the 21-year-old victim was shot in the ankle near Beach 70th Street and Beach Channel Drive in the Arverne section of Queens on the peninsula, police said.

At least one stray bullet struck the glass of a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus that was stopped at Beach 73rd Street, police said.

The man who was shot was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No one on the bus was injured.

The investigation into the incident continued late Monday night.
