Police: Man Shot In Mouth During Attempted Robbery In Roosevelt

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 29-year-old man was shot in the mouth during an attempted robbery on Long Island, police said.

The victim was walking on N. Long Beach Road in Roosevelt around 9 p.m. Monday when two men on bicycles came up to him and tried to rob him, police said.

During a struggle, one of the suspects took out a gun and shot the victim once in the mouth, police said.

The victim ran away before collapsing in front of a home on West Centennial Avenue. He is hospitalized in stable condition.

The suspects fled on foot and were last seen heading westbound on Debevoise Avenue, police said.
