Police: Man Shot In Head Drove Car Into Home In Hempstead

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man died after he was shot in the head, drove a half-mile and crashed into a house on Long Island, police said.

The crash happened Friday just before 11 p.m. on Rose Avenue in Hempstead.

No one in the home was injured, but the residence did suffer structural damage, police said.

The driver also struck a parked car before hitting the house, according to Newsday.

The 30-year-old victim was shot in front of 75 Chase St. Police found shell casings near the shooting scene.

The man was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
