Man Killed By LIRR Train On Montauk Branch

GREAT RIVER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A Long Island Rail Road train has hit and killed a person, disrupting service on the Montauk branch.

The death occurred at 4:45 p.m. Friday in Great River.

An LIRR spokesman says the victim either slipped or jumped onto the tracks in front of a westbound train.

The person's name was not immediately released.

Both westbound and eastbound service on the Montauk branch were disrupted during rush hour.
