Man Hit, Killed By Cement Truck In Astoria, Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was struck and killed by a cement truck Wednesday in Astoria, Queens.

The 60-year-old man, whose name had not been released late Wednesday, was struck a short time after noon Monday at 34th Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens, police said.

The 2001 Mack cement truck was being driven west on Northern Boulevard by a 29-year-old man, when the truck hit the victim has he crossed south across the road, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead a short time later at Mount Sinai Hospital Queens, police said.

The cement truck driver remained at the scene, police said. The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad was investigating late Wednesday.
