Police Chief: Mahopac Woman Killed By Daughter's Father-In-Law Over 'Financial Issues'

CARMEL, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Investigators say a woman who was found dead in her home in Mahopac may have killed over money.

Perla Gatchalian, 75, was discovered dead in her Putnam County home last week. On Tuesday, investigators said they discovered 69-year-old Filippo Buffone dead in his car in West Harrison, killed by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said the two are in-laws.

"Mrs. Gatchalian was killed by her daughter's 69-year-old father-in-law, Filippo Buffone," Carmel Police Chief Michael Cazzari said Wednesday. "It is believed that the motive is rooted in anger over financial issues."

Investigators say there is no indication that anyone else was involved.
