Man Faces Murder Charge In Ex-Girlfriend's Shooting Death

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) -- Murder charges have been filed against a northern New Jersey man who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend to death at her home.

Paterson police tell The Record that 30-year-old city resident Perfis Pena-Nunez went to police headquarters around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday and told authorities he had a problem with his girlfriend, 26-year-old Jackie Delarosa-Rodriguez.

When officers went to her home, they found she had been shot in the head and was dead on the garage floor.

Bail has not yet been set for Pena-Nunez, who also faces weapons offenses. It was not known Wednesday if he had retained an attorney.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Witnesses say they heard couple arguing, then heard shots being fired a short time later.
